Film Programmer

Cinema for Peace Foundation is looking for a film curator and programmer to join our team in Berlin. Since 9/11, 2001 the Cinema for Peace initiative has been aiming to influence through films the perception and resolution of global social, political, and humanitarian challenges of our time - and especially to oppose war and terror. In recent years, Cinema for Peace has supported a number of important causes and films with artists like Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, and personalities such as The Dalai Lama, Muhammad Ali, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Mikhail Gorbachev and the former Honorary Patron Nelson Mandela.

Tasks: 

● Selection of films for the annual Cinema for Peace Awards.

● Curation of the Cinema for Peace film library.

● Planning monthly film screenings and securing screening rights through liaising with distributors.

● Taking care of the Cinema for Peace jury selections.

● Managing relations with production studios and distributors

The ideal candidate would have:

● Excellent written English.

● Background in film, strong knowledge of the festival circuit and production studios.

● Experience working with production studios.

● Experience film planning screenings.

● Visited Cannes film festival or Toronto Film festival or Venice film festival

● Preferably based in Berlin

This volunteer position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 9:00 to 18:00.
Remuneration for this position is 520 euros + BVG ticket
