Screening of Der Fall Nawalny at the French Embassy in Berlin

On the 20th of August 2021, marking one year since the poisoning of the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, Cinema for Peace organized a film screening and panel discussion of the film Der Fall Nawalny – Putin, das Gift und die Macht at the French Embassy, Berlin. Pannelists included Mark Galeotti (leading academic on Russian security), Markus Beeko (Secretary-General of Amnesty International, Germany), Jens Afferbach (producer of the film) amongst others.

Ai Weiwei’s film Cockroach screening

On the occasion of the G7 summit on the 11th - 13th of June 2021 in Cornwall, the Cinema for Peace Foundation hosted ‘The China summit: Peoples, Cultures, and Artists under threat’ in Westminster, in cooperation with IPAC, coinciding with the second anniversary of the 2019 Hong Kong protests on the National Security Law. Ai Weiwei’s film Cockraoch was screened, and the pannel included Ai Weiwei himslef, along with Hong Kong activists’ Finn Lau and Nathan Law, amongst others.

Ghosts of Afghanistan - 20 years since 9/11


Marking the 20th Anniversary of 9/11, Cinema for Peace Foundation organized a film screening and panel discussion of the film Ghosts of Afghanistan (2021) at Kant Kino, Berlin, on the 11th of September 2021. The film, directed by Julian Sher, talks about the effects of war in Afghanistan, as well as the US withdrawal. Pannelists included Zarifa Ghafari (the youngest and first female mayor of Afghanistan), Graeme Smith (Emmy Award-winning journalist and researcher), and others.
